How to compress a PDF to 600 KB

    1. Add your PDF. Drop it into the box above or browse to it. It is opened in your browser, not uploaded.
    2. Keep 600 KB selected — or pick a nearby size, or type the exact limit your portal states.
    3. Compress and download. Images in the PDF are downsampled step by step until the file is under 600 KB, then you download the result.

What fits in 600 KB: measured

600 KB keeps 5 text-heavy pages sharp and 14 pages readable. Certificates, which have more white space, fit better: 9 sharp, 23 readable. Phone photos of a page behave much like text scans: 5 sharp, 14 readable.

DocumentPages kept sharp (about 100 DPI)Pages kept readable (about 70 DPI)One page reaches

    Certificate scan (A4, colour, 200 DPI)923about 154 DPI (the tool's highest setting)
Phone photo of a page (12 MP)514about 154 DPI (the tool's highest setting)

Moving up to 800 KB adds room for about 5 more readable text pages. Dropping to 500 KB costs about 2 readable text pages.

How we measured: this page's own compressor was run on three test documents of 1 to 30 pages, and the largest page count that stays under 600,000 bytes was recorded at each quality level. Your scans will differ with paper, ink and scanner, so treat these as a guide.

    Frequently asked questions

How many pages fit in a 600 KB PDF?

In our measurements, about 14 text-heavy scanned pages at readable quality (5 kept sharp), or 23 certificate pages. A single page reaches about 150 DPI.

Can every PDF be compressed to 600 KB?

Most scanned PDFs can. The tool shrinks the images inside the PDF, so it works best on scans and photos; a PDF that is mostly text or vector drawings has little to remove, and the tool tells you the smallest size it could reach.

Will a scanned page still be readable at 600 KB?

A single text-heavy A4 page keeps about 150 DPI at 600 KB in our measurements: sharp. Real text in a PDF (not a scan) is left untouched and stays sharp and selectable at any size.

Is the result exactly the target size?

It is the largest file the tool can produce that is still under the target, so you keep as much quality as the limit allows. It aims below 600,000 bytes, so it passes whether a portal counts a kilobyte as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.

    Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. Compression runs in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, which matters for ID cards, certificates and mark sheets.

What if my PDF is already under 600 KB?

Then you do not need to compress it. Check the portal's minimum as well: some portals reject files that are too small, not only too large.
