    FormatJPG
File size10 KB – 20 KB (both limits apply)
    FilenameSignature.jpg — exactly, with a capital S
Box6.0 cm wide × 2.0 cm tall, drawn on white paper
InkBlue or black ink pen, signed inside the box
Scan200 DPI, cropped to show only the box
About the pixel size. The notification prints a figure of 230 × 75 pixels and separately instructs you to scan at 200 DPI, which for 6.0 × 2.0 cm gives 472 × 157 pixels. We tested both: at 230 × 75 a scanned signature reaches only about 6 KB even at maximum quality, so it cannot meet the 10 KB minimum. At 472 × 157 it lands inside 10–20 KB. This tool uses the DPI-derived size, which is the only reading compatible with the file-size requirement.
If your file comes out under 10 KB. A signature is a few dark strokes on white paper, which is close to the most compressible thing a JPEG will ever meet. If the tool reports your scan is too small, rescan at a higher resolution, keep it in greyscale or colour rather than pure black and white, and leave some white margin inside the box.

    Scanning tips

    1. Draw the box first — 6.0 cm by 2.0 cm on plain white paper, using a ruler.
    2. Sign inside it with a blue or black ink pen, keeping the signature clear of the edges.
    3. Scan at 200 DPI in greyscale rather than pure black and white.
    4. Crop to the box using the tool above, then download.

Also preparing your photograph? The TNPSC photo tool adds the required name-and-date band.

    Frequently asked questions

What size should a TNPSC signature be?

JPG between 10 KB and 20 KB, saved with the exact filename Signature.jpg. The signature box is 6.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm tall, scanned at 200 DPI.

How should I prepare the signature?

Draw a box of 6.0 by 2.0 cm on white paper, sign inside the box using a blue or black ink pen, scan at 200 DPI, then crop to show only the box.

Can I sign in capital letters?

TNPSC's notification does not address capitals directly, but a signature is expected to be your normal running signature. Use the same signature you will use at the examination hall.

What pixel size does this produce?

472 x 157 pixels, which is 6.0 x 2.0 cm at the 200 DPI the notification specifies. The notification also prints 230 x 75 pixels, but at that size a scanned signature cannot reach the required 10 KB minimum at all.

My signature file is too small. What do I do?

Rescan at a higher resolution, keep it in greyscale or colour rather than pure black and white, and leave a little white margin inside the box. A very high-contrast scan compresses to almost nothing.

    Is my signature uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser on your own device.
