OPSC's wording: “The allowable size of the signature image must be less than 150 kb”, and “Enter 200 pixels in Horizontal and 100 pixels in Vertical”.
This is not a small discrepancy. In August 2026 we checked the three tool sites ranking for OPSC photo and signature resizing against the Commission's own upload guide. None of them matches it:

The 140 × 60 signature figure is the IBPS and SBI banking template. We have now found those numbers copied onto six different recruitment bodies. It has never once been the body's actual requirement.
A candidate following any of those pages is rejected twice over: once for dimensions that do not match, and again for a missing upload they were never told about. The Commission's guide is linked at the foot of this page — read it rather than taking our word for it.
OPSC gives every measurement as Horizontal then Vertical. So the photograph reads 150 × 200 and is portrait, while the signature reads 200 × 100 and is landscape. Same convention, opposite orientation. The thumb impression goes back to 150 × 200. If you are preparing all three in one sitting, that middle one is the one to double-check.
OPSC's upload guide covers dimensions, file size and format, and stops. It names no ink and no paper. We do not invent one. For comparison: MPSC requires black, GATE permits black or dark blue, and Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh all state nothing. Rules do not carry across bodies, and a tool that applies one body's ink rule to another is guessing.
The photograph is 150 × 200 and the thumb impression is 150 × 200. All three are required before OPSC will let you save your profile.
OPSC's website is opsc.gov.in. Its “Apply Online” button sends you to opscechayan.in — the e-Chayan Online Recruitment Management System — which is a plain .in address rather than a government one. That is legitimate: it is linked from the Commission's own site and its upload guide is the document quoted here. But if you have been taught to check for .gov.in before typing anything personal, the hesitation is reasonable, and it is worth knowing in advance rather than at the moment you are asked for an identity certificate number.
One more thing from the portal itself: if you registered on OPSC's old portal before 5 August 2022, that account does not carry over. You have to register again on e-Chayan to apply for anything published since.
The state was officially renamed from Orissa to Odisha in 2011 and the commission followed, so the body is now the Odisha Public Service Commission. Older guides, and a good deal of search traffic, still say Orissa PSC. Same commission, same specification.
Do not confuse it with OSSC, the Odisha Staff Selection Commission, or OSSSC, the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission. Those are separate bodies with their own portals and their own upload rules. Nothing on this page applies to them.
Same application, different file. Each has its own limits — they are not interchangeable.
200 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall, in JPG or JPEG, and less than 150 KB. OPSC's guide tells candidates to enter 200 in Horizontal and 100 in Vertical, and the upload field on the portal is marked 200 px across and 100 px down.

Uploading a 140 by 60 image to e-Chayan is not what the Commission asked for.
No, and it is the only landscape frame of the three. The photograph is 150 wide by 200 tall, the thumb impression is also 150 by 200, and the signature is 200 wide by 100 tall. It is easy to transpose because OPSC gives every measurement Horizontal first - so the photograph reads 150 x 200 and the signature reads 200 x 100.
OPSC does not say. Its guide covers dimensions, file size and format and stops - there is no ink colour and no paper instruction anywhere in it. Dark ink on white paper scans well and survives compression, but it is not a published rule, so this tool measures whether your strokes read clearly rather than policing their colour.
No. 150 KB is a ceiling and OPSC gives no floor. At 200 by 100 pixels a signature lands far below it regardless, so there is nothing to pad and nothing here pads it.
Three, and all are mandatory: photograph, signature and thumb impression. OPSC's guide states the Save button only becomes available once all three are uploaded.
No. The trim, the legibility measurement and the compression all run in your browser on your own device. Your signature image is never transmitted.
Requirements on this page are quoted from the “How to upload Photo and Signature” guide published by the Odisha Public Service Commission on its e-Chayan application portal opscechayan.in, linked as “Apply Online” from opsc.gov.in, together with the portal upload screens reproduced inside it. OPSC states exact pixel dimensions, JPG/JPEG format and a 150 KB ceiling on all three uploads; it states no minimum file size and no DPI.
That document carries no version number or date, so check the advertisement you are applying under. Figures of 200×240 for the photograph and 140×60 for the signature circulate widely and appear nowhere in the Commission’s guide — the correct figures are 150×200 and 200×100, and a third upload, the thumb impression, is mandatory.
