For the certificate, use our PDF compressor — it is a ceiling with no minimum, so any result under 500 KB is fine as long as the document stays clearly readable.
This is the requirement that has no equivalent anywhere else, and the one most likely to invalidate an application. You write a fixed block of text out by hand:
Clause 32 of the general instructions adds the part people miss: if at a later stage of selection or appointment the handwriting is found to be dissimilar by expert analysis, the candidature is cancelled. Candidates who cannot write may have the text typed and place their left thumb impression below it.
Black ink pen on white paper, and not in capital letters — the notification repeats this three times. It also warns that if the signature you sign on the attendance sheet or call letter does not match the one you uploaded, you will be disqualified. Use your normal signature, the one you can reproduce under exam conditions.
Left thumb on white paper in black or blue ink, 240 × 240 pixels (3 × 3 cm at 200 DPI), 20–50 KB. The notification sets out a fallback order if you cannot give a left thumb print: right thumb, then a finger of the left hand starting from the forefinger, then a finger of the right hand, then the left toe. In any such case you must state on the uploaded image which finger, hand or toe it is.
Recent passport-style colour picture against a light, preferably white background. Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face. Glasses are allowed provided there are no reflections and your eyes are clearly visible. Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable; religious headwear is allowed but must not cover your face.
Worth noting for contrast: the thumb impression and declaration figures do reconcile — 3 cm at 200 DPI is 236 px against the 240 stated, and 10 × 5 cm is 787 × 394 against 800 × 400. IBPS did the arithmetic; the photograph is the one place it does not line up.
The system will not let you move to the next stage of the application until the photograph and signature meet the specifications, so it is worth getting these right before you start.
Five things: a photograph, your signature, your left thumb impression, a handwritten declaration, and your 10th standard certificate as a PDF. You also capture a live photograph through your webcam or phone during registration, in addition to the uploaded photograph.
A fixed block of text you write out by hand, in English, in black ink, on white paper. It must not be in capital letters and it must be in your own handwriting. If it is written by anyone else or in another language, the application is invalid.

Because at 140 x 60 pixels a scanned signature reaches only about 2 KB, and IBPS requires 10 to 20 KB. The notification marks 140 x 60 as preferred and gives no centimetre size or DPI for the signature, so the resolution is open. We measured: 560 x 240 lands mid-band for both crisp and softer scans.
